ABOUT OUR ORGANIZATION:

OVERVIEW

Briggs-De Laine-Pearson Foundation (BDPF) is a volunteer organization in the economically distressed, rural town of Summerton in Clarendon County, South Carolina. Since 2002, it has targeted the Clarendon County School District One community as its primary service area.

District One includes approximately one-third of the county, including Summerton. BDPF's entire service community is all of Clarendon County and the immediately surrounding areas.

BDPF was originally founded in 1993 with the simple goals of:

• Memorializing the people responsible for the Briggs et al. v. Elliott et al. lawsuit, and


• Housing Briggs memorabilia in a community center.
