Independent BDPF Initiatives
- Workshops for community leaders on the need for supporting the educational process.
- A trip for District One high school students to a national conference in New York, NY.
- Annual fund raising/commemorative banquets. Speakers have included:

- Congressman Elijah Cummings (MD, 7th Congressional District)
